Urgent Medical Care

It is rare for any serious medical problems to occur after an abortion. If you experience any of the following symptoms after an abortion, get immediate medical attention:

  • Prolonged or heavy bleeding
  • Raised temperature and feeling unwell or fainting
  • Foul smelling discharge
  • Pain and cramping for more than five days
  • Chest, rib or shoulder-tip pain

If you have any of these symptoms, you should go to your doctor or local hospital immediately as you could have an infection or another complication. More detailed information will have been provided to you by the abortion clinic you attended.
