Mayo Crisis Pregnancy Support Service

Mayo Crisis Pregnancy Counselling Service is a hospital based service based in Mayo General Hospital.  It provides post-abortion counselling and support to women who have had an abortion.

How to make an appointment:  To make an appointment Lo Call 1890 200 022 or email  Phonelines are opened from Monday to Friday 9.30am-5pm.  If you call outside these hours, your call may not be answered, but you can leave a message and your telephone number and someone will call you back.  You can expect to get an appointment within 1 working day. 
If transport is an issue for you and it is easier for you to travel to Ballina, the counsellor can arrange to meet you at the Health Centre in Ballina. The service in Ballina is generally available on Tuesday mornings, but time/day is negotiable.

How to get here:
Our service is based in Mayo General Hospital, Castlebar. There is both a train and bus service to the town, which makes it easily accessible.

By train: -Iarnrod Eireann ( or 1850 366 222). Castlebar railway station is on the main Dublin-Westport line.

By bus: - Bus Eireann ( Castlebar is on the main Expressway service.

Parking is available outside the building and the barrier has an intercom system, so at your allocated time someone will be available to let you in.

When you get here: Once you get to our building, the counsellor or a member of the team will meet you at the door. As every person is allocated a specific time there is generally no wait. If there is a delay in an emergency there is a waiting area for you, and the counsellor will be with you as soon as possible.

Who can attend: You may bring a partner, a friend or a family member with you.   Counselling is also available to them if it is needed. 

Who provides the counselling : Counselling is provided by a professionally trained counsellor who has been with the service for the last 6 years.
